At Oncare, we are building an AI clinical operations platform for oncology. Our mission is to use technology to help improve cancer patient's access to care and reduce the administrative burden that nurses face when navigating patients through their care journey.

Position Overview

Oncare is seeking a founding engineer to join us as the fourth member of our team. As a foundational member of our team, you will work directly with the CTO to develop the next generation of our product and build out our oncology platform offering. You will play a key leadership role in setting our product direction, defining our engineering culture, and scaling the team as we grow and will be compensated with a substantial equity stake in a fast-growing company.

Responsibilities

• 🎨 Front End Engineering: Lead front-end development for our nurse-facing web app and platform offerings (with a focus on development of intuitive, simple workflows) in partnership with our UX designer
• ⚒️ Back End Engineering
  • 🧩 Integration & Data Engineering: Support integration with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Create and refine data pipelines to process and analyze data from the EHR to inform our machine learning models.
  • 💨 Algorithm Development: Support the development of our core machine learning algorithms
• ☁️ Cloud & Infrastructure: Build and manage our AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability, security (HIPAA and SOC 2), and high availability, with a focus on optimizing performance and costs as the platform grows

Tech Stack

We use the MERN stack (React + Typescript, Node JS, Express JS, Mongo DB), AWS, and Python

Qualifications

• Passion for healthcare, especially working with providers & health systems
• Ability to take ownership and work through ambiguity to independently drive projects to completion
• Willingness to embrace new and widely varying challenges in a dynamic startup setting. Interest working at an early-stage startup and experience wearing multiple hats
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a growing engineering team
• Experience in full-stack development, including proficiency in JavaScript (Node.js), React, and Python

Bonus Points

• Experience building web apps with MERN stack
• Experience working with AWS (Lambda, CloudFront, S3)
• Built data pipelines to process and analyze noisy / sparse (healthcare) datasets
• Security engineering experience (setting up and managing HIPAA- and SOC 2-compliant cloud environments)
• ++ for EHR integration and health systems implementation experience (experience with healthcare data, including familiarity with SMART on FHIR)
